The world has lost a great man. Louis B. Loughren, Esquire, 81, of Collier Township went to Heaven on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 17, 1943, Lou was the son of the late Lorene (nee Kessler) and Leo J. Loughren, Sr. Lou was a graduate of South Hills Catholic High School, the University of Notre Dame, and Duquesne University School of Law. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy Reserve and served with pride as an attorney and judge in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Following his naval service, Lou entered private legal practice in Pittsburgh where he worked as a partner in various law firms before founding Loughren, Loughren & Loughren, P.C. with his sons, Matthew and Patrick. Lou’s passion and respect for the law were of the highest order, and he especially enjoyed mentoring younger attorneys and watching them succeed. Lou’s love for his family and friends was immense. Whenever you were in need, you knew you could call on him for help. You could also count on him for a good (embellished) story or two; he had an irrevocable poetic license. Lou was a proud member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, the Allegheny County Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. He was also a member of The Club at Nevillewood and Wilderness Country Club, Naples, Florida.
In addition to his parents, Lou was predeceased by his beloved sister, Elizabeth Weaver (Richard). Lou is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of fifty-seven years, Sandy Brettholle Loughren; sons, Matthew, Patrick (Tonya), and Michael (Lindsay); grandchildren, Jack, Carter and Elizabeth; brothers, Jay (Pati), Jack (Kathy) and Jerry (Mary Ellen); and many nieces and nephews.
