Age 72, of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Scarsdale, NY, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Beloved wife of the late John Goldberger. Loving daughter of Inge and the late Max Adler. Dear mother of Benjamin Goldberger (Emily), Bailey Bledsoe (Demond), and David Goldberger (Katie Kessler). Loving Omi to Isabella, Chase, Riley, Simona, Eva, Max, and Nova. Dear sister of Karen Adler and Miriam (Steven) Bram.
Though her primary focus always remained on her family, Lenore was grateful to be a part of Beth El Congregation of the South Hills and the Pittsburgh museum community. Pittsburghers by choice, rather than birth, she and John moved to Upper St. Clair as a young family in 1980. After earning her undergraduate degree at Boston University, Lenore returned later in life to her studies at the Bank Street College of Education in New York, where she received her Masters degree in museum education. Her master’s thesis focused on equal access to museums. Equal rights, human rights and animal welfare were core values for Lenore, who supported numerous organizations that shared her goal of a more just society. She lived her values as well: becoming a pescetarian and providing temporary and permanent homes to a variety of creatures. A lover and teacher of science, Lenore brought the joy of learning about the natural world to many, at the Carnegie, in schools all over the Pittsburgh area, and in her home.
