On June 17, 2026, Katherine Francis (Boyko) Milano, 78 left this world for God’s heavenly kingdom at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh PA. Katherine was born in Fall River, MA on May 9, 1948. She was a consummate math educator for 38 years. She graduated from BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, MA. She obtained a BA degree from Stonehill College with a major in math and minor in education, later obtaining a Master’s Degree in math education from Eastern Connecticut State University followed by several hours toward her doctorate at the University of Houston. Katherine taught in Connecticut and Texas schools at the junior high school level instructing in advanced math courses and retired from the Conroe Independent School District as Math Department chair at McCullough Junior High School in 2011. Katherine is survived by her devoted husband, Louis A. Milano after 55 years of marriage. Their children are Rachel Milano of Houston TX, Michael Milano married to Jennifer Martin in Tomball, TX and Dr. Vanessa Milano married to Avery Haviv in Edison NJ. The loves of her life are her two granddaughters, Madeline Milano and Caroline Milano. She is survived by her beloved sister Ann (Boyko) Gannon of Sarasota FL as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her baby Alicia Louise, father Frank Boyko, Sr. and mother Helena (Wycislak) Boyko of Fall River MA. Also preceding her in death are her brother Frank (Jay) Boyko Jr. and sister Helena (Boyko) Sowa, both of Somerset MA. Besides being a dedicated educator who participated in many activities promoting education by attending national conventions of the NEA, and was an active participant in Texas State Teachers Association and the Texas Retired Teachers Association activities serving as state secretary, Katherine loved the theater having performed in many productions in high school, at Stonehill College and in later life many community theater productions in the greater Houston area with her stretch performance in the musical comedy production of “Nunsense” as Sister May Hubert. After moving to Pittsburgh, she was a loving member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carnegie PA where she loved helping to sell pierogis and serve at its annual festival where she made many friends. For a brief time, she was a member of the National Charity League with her daughter Vanessa and was a loving and supportive swim mom to her 3 children in high school and at The Woodlands Swim Team. She became an avid football fan of LSU, Texas Tech and Notre Dame as well as the Texans and later the Steelers. Visitation will be on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 2-4 PM, and 6-8 PM at the WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd, Scott Twp., 15220, (412-563-2800) with a closing prayer Parastas Service part 1 at 7:30 PM Monday evening. Funeral Service of Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM located at 730 Washington Ave., Carnegie PA. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River MA.
