Beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend
Karl Edward Ley, 64, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving siblings. He was born on January 29, 1962, to Joseph Ley, MD and Dorothy (Nicoll) Ley.
He is survived by his siblings: Mary Ellen Hesidence, Dorothy (Lawrence) O’Shea, Joseph (Nancy) Ley, Jr., Roberta (Thomas) Cox, William (Mary Ann) Ley, Kathleen Mahon, Lorraine (Adam) Owens, Elizabeth Ley, and Vincent ley. he also leaves behind, numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children. along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Ley and Theresa (Jerry) Humphrey and by his brother-in-law, Michael Mahon.
Karl was a graduate of Upper St. Clair High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Duquesne University. For numerous years, he was a valued employee of the Home Depot in Bridgeville, PA. Karl was an avid outdoorsman enjoying gardening, camping and boating in the infamous “Woody,” an all wood, 1950s era runabout. He published a number of poems during his adult life. Karl will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and great sense of humor.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 2-4 pm, and 6-8 pm, FREYVOGEL- SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15241 (412-835-1860). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, 10:00am at St. John Capistran Church- Resurrection Parish, 1610 McMillan Rd. Pgh PA 15241. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. A lunch reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
