Josephine S. (Franze) Spalla

Age 101, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Frank J. Spalla for 65 years; loving mother of Josie Soltis (Bob) of Green Tree, Geraldine Durst (the late George) of Bel Air, Maryland and Dr. Frank J. Spalla, Jr. (Susan) of the Villages, FL; Cherished grandmother of Michele Iorio, Michael Miele, Dr. George Durst, Daniel Durst, Nicole Dismuke and Natalie Bass. She was blessed with 11 loving great-grandchildren, Donnie and Briana Iorio, Matthew and Rowan Durst, Nicolas and Mira Miele, Emily Gibson, Grant Dismuke, Carson and James Bass and Cash Durst. She was the sister of Geraldine DeFoe and predeceased siblings including Christina, August and Natalie Franze, Angeline Hunter, Christine Romano and Lena Weber. Josephine was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America and a longtime member of Amity Lodge, and St. Thomas More Church. She loved working at the Upper St. Clair High School for many years. Josephine lived a long and blessed life. She has now gone to be with her beloved husband, Frank.
