Joseph J. Whiteside

Age 72, of Pittsburgh, on Monday, January 6, 2014. Beloved husband for 47 years of Priscilla (Graham) Whiteside; loving father Kevin J. (Gabriela) Whiteside, Beth A. (Craig) Pierson, and Jennifer S. Whiteside; cherished Grandpa Joe of Graham Pierson, Anna Pierson, and Derek Whiteside; loving brother of Virginia Kallet and the late Catherine Rusnic, Francis Whiteside, Rita Sehn, Jane Gurcak, Paul Whiteside, and Regis Whiteside; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joe earned a Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Notre Dame in 1963, and he earned Masters degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1963, he began his career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation as an electrical engineer. In 1966, he entered the banking industry with Mellon Bank. A long, successful career ultimately led him to PNC Corporation, where he retired as a Vice Chairman. Joe served on the board of trustees at Seton Hill University and the board of directors at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
