Joseph G. Rozman

March 5, 1932 — March 19, 2021

Age 89, of Green Tree, on Friday, March 19, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Lois M. Rozman; son of the late Joseph B. and Teresa C. Rozman; loving father of Joseph D. (Sharon) Rozman of Bethel Park, Stephen A. (Norma) Rozman of Robinson Twp., Ann L. (Richard) Scheafer of Kennedy Twp; brother of the late Dorothy O'Malley, grandfather of Lauren Rozman, Katie Scheafer, Becca Scheafer, Sarah Rozman, Natalie Rozman, and Joey Rozman.

Joseph Rozman was born on March 5, 1932 in Pittsburgh PA. Joe grew up in the Manchester section of the Northside and graduated from Allegheny Highschool in 1950. His affection for everything about Manchester was unconditional. So much so that he penned a 90-page book, essentially a love letter, about the area and his childhood.

Joe served in the Army in the Korean War. He utilized the G.I. bill to attend college and receive his B.B.A from the University of Pittsburgh in 1958. He was a long-time financial executive for Ryan Homes, in which he was inducted into the company's Hall of Fame in 1989. He loved his six grandchildren, three children and their spouses and especially his wife Lois, of 63 years. He greatly enjoyed living in Green Tree, where he resided for 57 years.

Joe had an exceptionally good, healthy, and positive outlook on life. He suffered a heart attack in 1975, at age 43. His goal, simply was to live long enough to see his children graduate from high school, his youngest in 1982. He far exceeded that goal, by living another 39 years! And live he did. If there was good meal, he ate it. If there was a good drink, he drank it. If there was a Broadway play to see, he and Lois saw it. If there was an exotic place on earth to visit, he and Lois traveled there.

He was an avid writer, exemplified by Northside remembrances. He learned to speak Spanish to meet his new in-laws from Paraguay, South America. He was an avid and accomplished painter and sculptor. He could have made a living as an artist painting custom made Grateful Dead tee shirts (which he painted several). In all, Joe Rozman was a renaissance man – and a well fed and merry renaissance man at that. He will be deeply missed by his family, relatives and friends who loved him.
