Joseph J. Lanz

Of Valencia and formerly of Baldwin Borough, peacefully passed on August 30 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of 64 years to the late Joan (Strobel) Lanz. Loving father of Lynn (Vince) Doran of McLean, VA, Peg (Bill) Mangan of West Mifflin, Laurie Lanz of Scott Township, and Cathie (Jim) Adams of Richland Township. Devoted grandfather of Kelly Doran (Matthew Santo), Sean Doran (Jill Collins), Bill (Allison) Mangan, Joe Mangan, Nathan Penkava, Nicole Penkava, Steven Adams, and Kyle Adams. Loving great-grandfather of Mila Doran Santo and Quinn Marie Doran. Joe retired from Kenshock-Lanz Optical where he was co-owner and optician. He was an active member of St. Albert the Great Parish for many years. He was also very active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 40 years and served as the National Commodore of the Auxiliary 1993-1994. Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at William Slater's Funeral Svc., (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh PA 15220. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 4, 2017 at 10:30am at St. Richard's Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia PA 15044. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Joseph will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven in McMurray. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association or Alzheimer's Association are suggested.
