Age 91, of Scott Twp., on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Rosemary Aull Pawlik; son of the late John and Mary Thomaszewski Pawlik; loving father of John A. "Jack" Pawlik; brother of Rose Channas; preceded in death by siblings, Evelyn Smith, Andrew Pawlik, Alex Pawlak, Ann Fechter, Peter Pawlik, Helen Yurchey and Tatiana Pawlik; many nieces and nephews that will mourn his passing. John was a member of the Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church and a former Board Member. He received degrees from Robert Morris and Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He worked for Dravo Corporation as a Purchasing Agent and Contract Administrator retiring in 1985 after 44 years of dedicated service. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Army 87th Infantry Division where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. John also served his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserve during the Korean War. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing soccer and fast pitch softball. Later he became an avid golfer, bowler, and loved playing poker with his friends. He immersed himself in national and international politics and loved political debate. He was a long-term member of the Seven Oaks Country Club and a long-term subscriber to the Pittsburgh Public Theater. He was the patriarch of our family and loved everyone dearly. He always offered sage advice and was our rock. An individual with high standards, John "Uncle Johnny" was "one of a kind", he was strong- willed, unassuming, humble and generous. Our memories of him will be a source of inspiration and we will treasure those memories forever.
