John Gajewski, Sr.

January 7, 1941 — April 12, 2026

John “Yush” Gajewski, 85, of Dormont, died on April 12, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 17, 1941 to John and Mary (Goralski) Gajewski.

John was a man of quiet strength, steady character, and deep devotion to his family and country. He proudly served in the United States Army, carrying with him a sense of duty and honor that shaped the way he lived the rest of his life.

He was the beloved husband of MaryAnn, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2019. Together, they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family.

Outside of his service, John found his greatest joys in the simple pleasures. He loved spending time on the water- fishing at sunrise, boating on calm afternoons with his son, and appreciating the peace that nature brought him. He was also an avid reader, always eager to learn, reflect and escape into a good book.

More than anything, John cherished his family. He found special happiness in time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether it was taking them on walks, visiting the park, or simply sharing laughter and stories. Those moments meant the world to him, and they will remain lasting memories for those who loved him.

John will be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, and the love he gave so freely to his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories that will be treasured forever.

John is survived by his children, Barb (Dan) Soroczak, Patty (Craig) Falk, John (Kari) Gajewski, Jr, son-in-law, Jim Herbst, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Toni Herbst.
