John James Contis

Age 80, of Whitehall formerly of Mt. Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 29, 1941 and in Oakland, PA. Son of the late James and Anna Contis. Preceded in death by his sister, Diane Contis Limberiou (James). John is survived by his wife of 54 years to Sandra (Gonot) Contis. Loving father of Christine (Steve) Pintar, Jamie (Brad) Zonghetti, and Michelle (Chuck) Ackerman. Adoring Papou to Lexi, Nina, Nicholas, and Anna. Beloved uncle to George Limberiou and Kathy Limberiou Sechrist; also survived by many nieces and nephews. John graduated from Schenley HS and Duquesne University. He had a long career with Super Valu. He loved to travel with his wife,and was happiest when spending time with his family. He was proud of his Greek heritage and was a life long member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 10 am until time of service at 11 am in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 419 S. Dithridge St., Pgh., PA 15213.
