Age 94 of Bethel Park, formerly of Brookline and the South Side, passed peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023. Beloved husband of 69 years to the late Stephanie, father of Marianne (late Mark) Lesonick, Dr. Robert J. (Regina), and the late Kenneth P. Grandfather to Kristin Durkan, Allison Lesonick, Michael Lesonick, Michael Colligan, and Bryan Colligan. Great-Grandfather to Marcus Empey, Maggi and Jack Durkan, Blake Lesonick, Zoë and Aiden Lesonick.
Jack was a charter member of St. Thomas More Church, where he was the first commentator, lector, and the first lay minister.
He was a 1946 graduate of North Catholic High School and attended Georgetown University. He graduated #1 in his class from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
He quarterbacked the 1945 & 1946 North Catholic football teams and was the Pittsburgh representative in the 1949 Esquire Magazine All-Star Baseball team in New York City.
In 1969 he and Stephanie formed Colligan Tool Sales, which grew into a very successful industrial distributorship. He was a member of the St. Clair Country Club and became an avid golfer and bowler.
Family and friends are welcome Tuesday, April 25, from 2-8pm in FREYVOGEL-SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS (412-835-1860) 112 Fort Couch Rd, 15241 (Opposite Macy’s South Hills Village). Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, 10am in St. Thomas More Church, Resurrection Parish. Entombment to follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
