John F. Coakley

Age 95, of Dormont, on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Together again with his beloved wife the late Josephine L. (Breitkritz) Coakley. Son of the late James J. and Martha C. (Hunter) Coakley. Dear father of Susan (Harry) Tkach. Brother of the late James E. Coakley and the late Jane Hancher. Grandfather of Amy (Greg) Hoffman, Daniel (Molly) Bailey, Katie (Tim) Schruben, Matthew Tkach and Mary Jean Tkach. 11 great grandchildren. Mr. Coakley was former supervisor of employees with Allegheny County & former treasurer of the Allegheny County Credit Union. He was a proud Army veteran of World War II having fought in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 bronze stars. He was a lifelong member for over 50 years in the VFW Post #623.
