Joan P. (Strobel) Lanz

Formerly of Baldwin Borough, peacefully passed on February 10, 2016, at the age of 84. Beloved wife of 64 years to Joseph J. Lanz, Jr.; loving mother of Lynn (Vince) Doran of McLean, VA, Peg (Bill) Mangan of West Mifflin, Laurie Lanz of Scott Township, and Cathie (Jim) Adams of Richland Township; and devoted grandmother of Kelly Doran (Matthew Santo), Sean Doran (Jill Collins), Bill Mangan, Joe Mangan, Nathan Penkava, Nicole Penkava, Steven Adams, and Kyle Adams; and loving great-grandmother of Mila Doran Santo. Joan was an active member of St. Albert the Great Parish for many years where she taught in the school. Joan retired frm the Parent and Child Guidance Center of Pittsburgh where she served as the Director of Community Services and worked as a counselor and parent educator. She also was the founder and director of the Center's Families in Transition program. Joan was very active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and served as "First Lady" while her husband was the National Commodore of the Auxiliary.
