On February 18, 2024, Joan Keane of Green Tree and Scott Township started the next chapter of her life. Sadly, after a prolonged period of hospital stays and nursing care Joan left us to join her family in heaven.
Joan was born on December 1, 1933, grew up in Mt Lebanon. Pre-deceased in death by her parents, Daniel and Olive Francis; brother, Victor Francis; sister, Thelma Schmidt; and her twin sister, June Johnson; as well as her former husband, Joe Keane.
Joan leaves behind her sisters, Norma Grubb and Donna Schreiber; loving children, Kevin (Mindy), Keith (Amanda) and Ann (Randy) Trybus; grandchildren, Jennifer Bend, Jaclyn Keane,
TJ Keane (Catlin), Cody Keane (Hailee) and Andrew Trybus (Emily); and great-grandchildren, twins, Ava & Jackson Bend and Wyatt Keane. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Joan’s family was the center of her life. She constantly insisted on hosting family gatherings and if you could not attend, you had better have a good excuse, because you heard about it one way or the other if you didn’t make it. Attendance, while not mandatory, was expected, and excuses were not readily accepted. Anyone knowing Joan would understand this. She could be rather demanding and favored driving in both lanes of the road.
Joan was a pioneer in the Estate Liquidation business. Back in her heyday, she had month’s long backlogs of estate sales, antique/jewelry appraisal appointments and selling whatever she could categorize as collectable household items. Our family will continue to try and unpack the decades of items she collected herself and has not done much with! We think she is snickering about this as she looks down upon us.
Among her favorite things to do were to attend Heinz Hall and Benedum Center for performing arts and visiting the Phipps Conservatory and enjoying the various rooms decorated for the holidays throughout the year.
