Jessie James Scott, Jr.
On July 4, 2024 in the afternoon, God called one of His children home. Jessie James Scott, Jr. was born on November 25, 1957, the first one of three children, born to Bernice Thurman and the late Jessie James Scott Sr. in the West End of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Jessie was always full of curiosity as a child, and always seeking answers to his many questions. Jessie graduated from Langley High School in the Bicentennial year of 1976. Jessie attended Computer Tech Institute and earned an Associate Degree in Computer Technology. Jessie had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, a great smile and an awesome work ethic, working at Chartiers Golf Course as a caddy for many years. He loved Christmas caroling and performing in talent shows at the West End Library.
Jessie enlisted in the Air Force, and served as a military policeman in 1977, and was honorably discharged in 1981. Jessie resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico for an additional 10 years before returning home to Pittsburgh.
Jessie was blessed with one daughter, Camille Stevenson, born on April 1, 1991 with Gardenia Stevenson.
Jessie graduated from the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee on August 22, 1995 and worked as an Apprentice from 1993-1995, and as a Journeyman professional painter from 1995 till present. Jessie enjoyed playing basketball, shooting pool, and playing ping pong. Jessie also loved music and helping people and working hard all his life.
Jessie was preceded in death by his father, the late Jessie James Scott, Jr., and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Jessie is survived by his daughter, Camille Stevenson, of Orlando, Florida, 1 grandson, Solomon Rice, of Orlando, Florida, his mother, Bernice Scott, and 2 sisters, Linda L. Mosely (Scott) and Theresa Diane Scott, 4 nephews, Jason Toombs, Jontae (Lyndsay) Scott, Eugene Watson, Brandon Watson, and 1 niece, Brianna Scott, 1 grandniece, Najaiya Scott and 4 grand nephews, Dior Watson, Kaior Watson, Brysyn Scott, and Braydyn Barbosa, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends, and other relatives.
Family and friends are welcome Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 11 AM to 12:45 PM, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 15220 (412-563-2800) where a Funeral Service will begin at 1 PM. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
