Born and raised in Pittsburgh PA and living 50+ years in Houston TX, Jerry passed away peacefully after 12 years of living with complications from several strokes.  Taught by IHM Sisters in St. Mary of the Mount School for 12 years, he graduated in 1961.  Spent summers plying the rivers as a towboat deckhand to earn tuition for Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green KY, graduating in 1965 with a BBA.  He earned his MBA from Sam Houston University in 1975.  Jerry was proud to establish Allegheny Marine Services, his own petroleum/marine logistics company in Houston TX, and designing effective oil pumps and equipment for domestic and international marine transport. He enjoyed world traveling to market these products. He was an avid hunter and always looked forward to traveling back to Pittsburgh for annual Thanksgiving hunting camps.  He had a perpetual warm spot in his heart about growing up in his hometown of Mt. Washington, and maintained many Mountie friendships through the years.  He was an active alum of SMOM and WKU.  Jerry had a great sense of humor and will always be remembered as being the ‘life of the party’ enjoying his favorite Straub’s beer.  Jerry is survived by his former spouse, Bobbi Anne (Zama), cherished daughters Lisa Marie (Nate) McCoy, their son Zackary and daughter Mariah, Suzanne (Kevin) Simmonds, their son Eamonn, and Cherylyn (Andrew) Porta, their sons Samuel and Ezekiel. He is also survived by his loving sister, Madonna Smithand many loving cousins and their families.  Jerry is the beloved son of the late Albert and Rita.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with cremated remains will be celebrated on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Mary, Queen of Peace Parish/St. Mary of the Mount Church. Please meet at the Church. Burial on his 80th birthday, October 26th, is private to the family.
