Jeffrey S. Griffith

Jeffrey S. Griffith, 65, passed away at home Sunday, March 29, 2026, a life-long resident of Wheeling, WV and a precious member of a large extended family.

Jeffrey was a professional caregiver for 30 years, extending compassionate care to the aged, and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Jeffrey served clients in private homes, retirement homes, adult daycare programs, and in residential home environments. He was passionate about his work and was treasured by his clients whom he treated with incredible kindness, respect and dignity.

Jeffrey was born March 6, 1961, the son of the late Dr. John P. Griffith, Jr., and his wife, the late Mercy M. Griffith. He was a graduate of Wheeling Park High School, class of 1980. Jeffrey grew up in a large, loud, loving home, and will be remembered for his sweetness, big personality, zany sense of humor, and the joy he derived in living his life with friends and loved ones.

Jeffrey is survived by his brothers, John Perry III, Martin Alan, James Michael (and his wife Linda), Mark Thomas, and his sister Suzanne G. Higgins (and her husband Jim). He was a doting and adored uncle to nephews Josh Gruwell (and his wife Fabiola), Jamie, Johnny and Charlie, and nieces Elizabeth Griffith, Jackie Lytton (and her husband Drew).

Jeffrey had countless friends throughout the Ohio Valley who deeply enriched his life. Their kindness to Jeffrey and to the Griffith family is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bishop’s Chapel at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling at 11am, Saturday, May 2. He will be interred alongside his parents at Mount Calvary Mausoleum.
