Jean Joan (Yee) Lee

Jean Joan Yee Lee, age 77, of McKees Rocks, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Throughout her life, she was a beloved teacher, a dedicated federal employee, and a loyal friend.

Jean began her career in the classroom, devoting many years to teaching with passion, care, and a commitment to realizing the potential of every student. Known for her calm demeanor and inspirational spirit, Jean left a lasting impact on generations of youngsters, many of whom credited her with shaping their lives.

Jean added another chapter of service when she entered the federal workforce with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). During a distinguished 14-year career, she received the prestigious Pendelton Award as the 2004 Woman of the Year and was named the 2006 outstanding staff support employee. This recognition reflected not only her career success but the deep respect of colleagues for the leadership she displayed.

Throughout her life, Jean was grounded by her values—kindness, humility, and a dedication to service. Whether in the classroom, the office, or among family and friends, she never sought the spotlight but was admired by all those around her.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew Foo Kwo Lee; her parents, Sau Yun and Choa Ark; and her brother Gim Mon and sister-in-law Linda. She is survived by her son Brian (Yufen), grandson Austin, brothers Gim Borne and Gim Yuen (Helina), and Vicky (wife of her late brother Gim Mon). She is also survived by nieces and nephews Kelly (Brian), Matthew (Marcie), Jason, Christina, Karen (Tim), and Kristie. She was a great-aunt to Brandon, Makayla, Matthew, Marina, Maxwell, Tep, Lee, and Theodore.

All are welcome on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 9-11 AM, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 412-563-2800. A funeral service will take place at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Homewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
