Wagner
J. Kenneth, JR. "Ken"
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith."
2 Timothy 4:7
Dear son of Lorraine Sweeney Wagner and the late J. Kenneth Wagner, SR. Beloved brother of Grace (Ed) Monk, Peppy (Matt) Pollock, and Cece Wagner. Cherished uncle of Marley (Phill), Eddie (Angie), Maggie, Kelsey, Lorrie, Jay, Kyle and Timmy. Great uncle to Iona and PJ. Also survived by his very supportive aunts, uncles and many cousins of the Clohisy, Donoghue, Sweeney, Flynn, Stafford and Wagner families.
Ken earned a degree in Criminal Justice after attending Duquesne and LaRoche Universities. He proudly served as a Pittsburgh City Police Officer and Detective until retirement. Prior to his work in law enforcement, he worked as a paramedic with Medical Rescue Team South Authority. Ken loved the camaraderie he found throughout his career. Since 2008 Ken has served on the Board of Directors for The Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh, which supports individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Ken shared the story of his valiant fight against Lymphoma and Chronic Graft vs. Host Disease with the Mario Lemieux Foundation in a video which was shown at the 2013 Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Walk and Family Run. He and his family participated in that event. Ken and his family greatly appreciated all of the loving care provided by the many doctors and nurses through out his illness.
Ken spent many fun filled times taking friends and family on his boat, Cop Out, along with his faithful Newfoundland dogs Huddy and Sulley. He will be truly missed. The Celebrant for Ken's Mass wii be his cousin, the Reverend Denis G. Donoghue, S.J.
