James M. O’Hara, age 85 of Scott Township, PA, passed away on Friday April 19, 2024. Born October 8, 1938, he was the son of Daniel and Stella (Rankin) O’Hara. James was a graduate of Connelly Technical Institute and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was an avid golfer and bowler, as well as lover of Pittsburgh sports. He was affectionately known as “Pap” to those that knew and loved him. He was an outgoing, positive person who had never met a stranger. He always appreciated a good sunset and enjoyed fishing with his grandson, Jimmy, and found joy in following his grandson’s sporting events. When people told him to “Have a good day”, he would always say “You have a better one”.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two children Kelly (Bill) Boyle of Scott Township, Kim (Pat) Thompson of Rennerdale, PA, and his grandson Jimmy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Judy of 39 years, two sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at WILLIAM SLATER FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800) 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp, PA 15220. www.slaterfuneral.com. The family invites those who wish to attend prayers at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 at 12 PM. Interment at Jefferson Memorial Park will be private.
