'Jimmy the Jeweler' Age 87, long time resident and respected business owner of Brookline Jewelry died at St. John Speciality Care Center on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. James attended Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute and opened Brookline Jewelry which remained a community icon for over 50 years. James was extremely active in his community where he was a member of the Kiwanis Club, past president of the Lions Club and past president of the Brookline Chamber of Commerce. His volunteer activities included Meals on Wheels, Beacon Lodge and performing screenings for the local Eye Mobile Program. Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers William, Joseph and Raymond. Surviving are his brother Michael Mongelli and sister Christina Lipinski. Treasuring his memory are three children Gary Mongelli of CO, William Mongelli of MA and Tamsen DiBlasio of MD; grandfather of Robert, Gary Jr. and Eric Mongelli, Joanna Smith, Andrew and Lauren Tripp and Talia Hammen; great-grandfather of Luke, Jake and Maya, Rhyan, Abigayle Mongelli, Natalia McMannis and Jackson Hoover; also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
