Jim passed away on July 6 in Oneonta, NY. He was the beloved son of the late James A. and the late Geraldine W. McDonald. Jim was born and raised in Pittsburgh and graduated from Bishop Canevin High School and the University of Pittsburgh. Following graduation, Jim began his career in the travel industry, living and working in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and finally, in New York City. Jim worked as a Sales Representative for several international airlines. Jim had a lifelong love of Ireland and visited Ireland countless times where he made many friends. It was not unusual for Jim to leave work on a Friday afternoon, fly to Dublin for the weekend and return to work in New York on Monday morning. Jim also traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America, Kenya and India. Jim had a keen interest in family history and traced his family’s Irish roots going back to the early 19th century. Jim will be sadly missed by his many friends in the U.S. and around the world. He is survived by his brother, Michael, sister-in-law, Christine, nieces, Katherine, Jean-Marie and Meg and nephew, Robert. Jim’s family is grateful to Jim’s dear friends, Frank and Laureen Treacy of Oneonta, NY who provided friendship and care for Jim over the past ten years. All are welcome Thursday, July 13 from 6-8 and Friday, July 14, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road., Scott Township, 15220 (412 563 2800).
