James Murphy III, age 46, returned safely home to God's care on Monday, December 26th, 2022. Cherished son of Elizabeth (Gardy) Murphy and the late James D Murphy Jr. James was a 1994 graduate of Plum Senior High and a 1998 graduate of Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. In spite of the cold winters James loved Syracuse and took great satisfaction in playing trumpet in both the Syracuse Marching Band and the Pep Band. Following graduation James worked as a reporter, writer, editor and the host of “The Week In Review” at the former KQV all News Radio station. He especially enjoyed interviewing local news makers, following city government, and preparing for upcoming newscasts. James completed the Paralegal Course of Study at Duquesne University School of Law and was inducted into the National Paralegal Honor Society. He was employed at several law firms and J.J Gumberg Co. until his declining health and the covid epidemic prohibited him from returning to the office.
Although James and his father were both avid fans of both college and professional sports they especially enjoyed watching and attending Pittsburgh Penguin games together.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends and by his greyhound, Holly, who spent the last months of James's lifestaying close to him and watching over him. James was filled with grace and will be remembered as a “gentle soul” who always took time to be considerate of others’ feelings and hadrespect and compassion for all of God’s creatures.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of James's life on Saturday, January 28, 2022 in WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp. 15220. Visitation 10AM, Celebration of Life 11 AM.
