Age 81, of The Villages, FL, formerly of Carnegie, PA passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. Son of the late Stanley and Martha (Gniewkowski) Carlowski and Step-Son of George Miller. Beloved husband of the late Joanne (Frankl) Carlowski. Loving father of Jennifer (Matt) Sherman and James (Amy) Carlowski. Brother of Maureen (Ed) Altenbaugh and the late Diane (Sonny) Lewis. Grandfather of Jacob and Christopher Sherman and Garrett Carlowski. Brother-in-Law of William Frankl and Robert (Patty) Frankl. Loved by so many special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Jim grew up in Mt. Washington and attended St. George School. He enlisted in the Army in August 1962 and was honorably discharged in August 1968. He began a career in electrical wire and cable distribution and opened Pittsburgh Wire and Cable in March 1992. He spent the next 20 years building a thriving small business. He always treated his employees as family and the office was a fun atmosphere where golf was played in the office, basketball in the warehouse, and the occasional practical joke. He retired to The Villages, FL where he enjoyed playing golf and often served as leadership in community roles. His family and friends were always most important to him and he and Joanne spent many years enjoying traveling and time spent with them. His enthusiasm for “As Seen on TV” products was shared with all he knew as he was always excited to share the newest gadget he found with everyone he thought would benefit from it. He was always willing to help anyone who needed him, and he will be missed by many.
