Born October 18, 1925, died February 9, 2017, at the age of 91. Son of the late Walter and Myrtle Minsinger; husband of the late Georgia Flynn for 53 years; beloved father of Jerry (Debra) Minsinger and Jean (the late Victor) Cianca; loving grandfather of Jacob and Chelsea Minsinger, Victor (Natalie) and Steve Cianca; loving great-grandfather of Amber, Kara and Tieran Cianca. Jacob was a great-grandson of one of Mount Washington's original settlers. He served in the Army Air Force in WWII with the 19th Bomb Group, 20th Air Force on the Mariana Islands of Saipan, Tinian and Guam. He attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received a B.A. and M.E. in special education. During his career in education, he attended Bank Street College of Education from 1974-1978. His time there was spent improving educational practices and learning about the educational system in the United States and around the world. Jacob retired in 2001 after serving in the Pittsburgh Public Schools for 55 years. In addition to his tenure as an educator, Jacob was active in numerous Masonic organizations, serving as Master of the John A. Brashear Masonic Lodge 743 F&AM.
