Age 88, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017. He was the son of the late Beatrice and Ben Carpe. He is survived by his brother, Harold Gold (Anita) and his nephews, Howard Gold, M.D. of New York State and Bradley Gold of New York City. He served in the United States Army in Europe during the Berlin Blockade. Some 45 years ago, he founded Schwab and Gold Safe and Lock Co. located on Potomac Ave. in Dormont and continued in the business until his death. He was devoted to his business and his customers many of whom were national corporations and many of whom were just folks looking for a small safe. Everybody was treated alike. He was a recognized expert in certain aspects of security and advised many corporations and businesses. Local police forces consulted with him on safe and other security systems in connection with criminal investigations. He was a good athlete in his your and was an avid sports fan.
