Henry William Areheart

June 23, 1934 — April 4, 2025

Scott Twp

Henry William Areheart died on April 4, 2025 at the age of 90. He was born in Dixiana, SC to Henry and Mozelle (Spinks) Areheart. Known most widely as Bill he was a true son of the South Carolina sand hills where his courage and integrity were forged.

Bill grew up a range-free childhood in the woods, hills and sand dunes of the sand hills. He was educated in the rural grammar schools and Brookland Cayce High School and gradated from Clemson Agricultural and Military College, later Clemson University, with a BS in English. In 1956 he married Lynda Manos Areheart with whom he had two daughters. After a short stent in industry he went into the US Army from which he retired in 1981, honorably, after 26 years of service to his country. He then graduated from Duquesne Law School with a Juris Doctor and practiced pro bono law with Neighborhood Legal Services for 32 years.

Bill was past vice president of the Teutonia Mannerchor and past president of the Chorus. He was active in the chorus and had a deep love of German music. He served two tours in Viet Nam and two in Germany where he developed a deep love of and respect for foreign cultures.

He is survived by his wife Lynda of 68 years and two daughters Lisa (Ronald) Worsing of Pittsburgh, Heidi (Tim) Cherry of Louisville, KY, son of his heart Ernest (Pam) Bolen of Oswego, IL, and daughter of his heart Bonnie Ramsey, MD of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by grandchildren Derrick, Benjamin and Bryan Lucarelli; Jason VanNess; Ryan and Kristen Cherry; and Joshua and Virginia Bolen. In addition he was treated as honored father and grandfather to Kahlid and Ishrad Hussain and the children Donish, Maliakah, Aqib, and Maheen.

His wish was that his thanks be noted to William Lamb, DO, Ricci Minella, MD, Larwence Collins, MD and Steven Harris, MD for their care which gave him years of extended life and good quality of life. There is not room here to mention so many in the medical field that earned his thanks and deepest respect. His entire family offers their gratitude.
