Age 92, of Scott Twp., PA, and formerly of Brookline, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014. Beloved husband for 60 years of the late Marie Bondi Baker; loving and devoted father of Helen (Ty) Walker and the late Ronald Baker; beloved grandfather of Michael (Jenn) Baker, Ron (Stefanie) Baker, Christy Lynn (Ryan) Flanagan, Christopher (Lindsy) Walker, and Billie (Ryan) Fameli; great- grandfather of Madison, Delaney, and Harper Baker, Seamus and Cillian Flanagan, Raelyn and Corbin Walker, and Lucas and Ronnie June Fameli. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Gerard was predeceased by all his sisters and brothers: Loretta (Samuel) Daugherty, Agnes (Frank) Schneider, Jean (Gilbert) Staley, Patricia (Kermit) Fricke, Geraldine (George) Mangis, Harold (Eve) Baker, Charles (Bud) Baker, and Vincent Baker. Gerard was the son of Ella and Louis J. Baker and lived in Green Tree as a boy. As a young man, he worked in the family business, Seven Baker Brothers Baking Company. During World War II, he served on the European front in the U.S. Army. Gerard was part of Special Operations Forces and was assigned as a personal driver for General Dwight Eisenhower throughout the war. After the war, Jerry worked for 25 years at Sealtest Dairy, and later worked at the General Electric Locomotive Division in Lawrenceville. Before his retirement, he worked with his son, Ronald, in their own painting and remodeling business, Baker's Home Services. Gerard was an avid reader. He enjoyed keeping up on current events and read several newspapers daily. Jerry had mechanical skills and a keen mind and liked coming up with ideas for new inventions. Gerard spent many happy hours singing and listening to his large collection of record albums. Jerry was known for his great sense of humor and loved telling stories and joking with his family and friends. However, Gerard's greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family. He was a kind, loving, and giving man, who would do anything to help others. He will be greatly missed. There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church in Scott Twp. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Peters Twp.
