After a brave battle with cancer, George Joseph Tarasi died peacefully, surrounded by family on August 30, 2018 in Pittsburgh, PA at the age of 75. Beloved husband of 55 years of Rosalyn Tarasi, devoted father to Lisa (Jim) Reiland, Tonia (Greg) Yard, George (Jenifer) Tarasi; brother to James (Marlene) Tarasi, Frank Tarasi, Paul (Mimi) Tarasi, Mary Ann (Rege) Klein, John (Carol) Tarasi, Kevin Tarasi and Noreen (Phil) Pellegrini; cherished "Pop-pop" to Sarah and Grace Reiland, Hannah, Allyson and Andrew Yard; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marcella (Schmidt) Tarasi and brother Joseph Tarasi.
George was born on October 30, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA. He grew up in a large, loving family and graduated from Sharpsburg High School. Shortly after, he married Rosalyn Lederer on September 14, 1963. They lived in Baldwin Township, where they raised their 3 children and George began a lifelong career, spanning 55 years, at Rohrich Automotive Group.
George was a driven professional, a strong family man and a generous friend and neighbor. His children and grandchildren brought him his greatest joy. He enjoyed golf, boating, cars, reading and spending time with his large family. George was a selfless man, who left the world a little bit better.
Family and friends will be received Sunday 6-8 and Monday 2-4 & 6-8 William Slater II Funeral Service, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township, 15220. Mass of Christian Burial 9:00 am Tuesday, in St. Winifred Church in Mt. Lebanon. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. George's family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a luncheon at Valleybrook Country Club, 425 Hidden Valley Road, Canonsburg.
