Gary A. Gorski, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Mt. Lebanon on January 27, 2018, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary (Nowacki) Gorski; sons Christopher Gorski and his wife Michelle, Gary Gorski and his wife Clare, and Alexander Gorski; grandson Flynn Gorski; sister Linda Williford; and brother Ken Gorski. Gary is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.
Gary was born on November 12, 1947 in the Allentown neighborhood of Pittsburgh to Albert and Katherine Gorski. Gary and Mary were married on October 6, 1973 and moved to their home in Mt. Lebanon in 1986.
An architect for more than 40 years, Gary began his career with the firm of Anthony J. Stillson in 1974. He also worked at Thomas Sutton and Associates, Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann Associates, and Reid and Stuhldreher, before starting his own practice in 1991.
He was an architect of extraordinary vision, unparalleled dedication, and deep compassion. He designed every home as though it were for his own family, and left countless hours unbilled for those he thought could not afford it. Gary volunteered many hours to the South Hills YMCA and other causes. A licensed private pilot, he shared his wife Mary's love of the skies.
While architecture was his passion, his life revolved around his family. For his children, he was the coach of every team and the chaperone of every school trip. For his wife, from the first dance to the last, his love was unfailing. Throughout his life, there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family.
The family will greet friends on Friday, February 2 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm at the William Slater Funeral Service (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 15220.
