Age 85, of Pittsburgh, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 13, 2018. A devoted husband to Alice Ann for 60 years; and loving father of Eric (Gay), Greg (Chris, deceased), Thom (Tami), Lois Leonard (Mark), Gretchen Deitrick (David); he is also survived by his brother, Robert; also 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Fred was born October 23, 1932, and raised in Sheraden, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred. Fred graduated from St. Vincent College in 1954 and from University of Pittsburgh in 1957. His professional life was varied and full. His career began as a solicitor for the City of Pittsburgh. He then joined and became partner in the law firm, Goehring, Rutter, and Boehm. Fred enjoyed many accomplishments while working for the city, as well as while practicing his specialty of zoning law. Though retired, Fred continued to work as an adjunct professor for the University of Pittsburgh School of Law until 2009. Fred enjoyed playing golf, volunteering at his parish of St. Margaret of Scotland in Green Tree, gardening, reading, and learning to cook in his later years, always at the ready for an accordion sing-along with family and friends. Fred found his true life's joy and blessings in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather.
