Frank Joseph Clause died on March 15, 2025 at his home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with his family at his bedside. He was 96 years old.
Frank is survived by his wife, Joan M. Clause (Labs) of Pittsburgh, formerly of Telford Pennsylvania; four Children, Felicia (Clause) Jackson (Carl), Jacqueline (Clause) McCormack (John), Joanna (Clause) Mangiovillano (Philip), and Frank Clause II (Diane); six grandchildren; and one great grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Felice and Anna Clause (Orefice) and a sister, Sara Caccese.
Frank was born on February 1,1929 in Philadelphia, PA to Anna and Felice Clause. He graduated from Souderton Area High School in 1947. After graduation, he worked at Sunlight Shops in Souderton to learn tailoring and became a supervisor. Shortly afterward he was drafted into the Army. He served as a Sergeant in the 14th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. Frank saw combat during the Korean conflict earning a Combat Infantry Badge. He held great pride in his military service. Upon his return home, he continued his employment at Sunlight Shops and then as sales manager at Fisher's Furniture Store in Souderton.
Frank married the love of his life, Joan M. Labs in 1959. Frank was employed in furniture and carpet sales until he purchased his own business, Quakertown Furniture, in the late 1960's. Frank and Joan built a home on the outskirts of Telford in 1967 where they raised their 4 children. They purchased a second furniture store called Clause Family Furniture in East Greenville, PA in the 1970's. After retirement, Frank worked at Landis Supermarket in Telford for 20 years. He lived in Telford until 2018 when he and Joan moved to Pittsburgh to live with their daughter.
Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout most of his adult life. He enjoyed hunting on his property in Telford with his friends and family members and taking his boat to various places in New Jersey to fish. He was an athlete during his high school years. In 1999 he was inducted into the North Penn-Souderton Area Sports Hall Of Fame. Frank was honored for his successes in football, basketball, and track. He played American Legion Baseball for three years. In addition, he was honored for his success in coaching the Hahnemann Student Nurse's Basketball League. Frank was a bowler for fifty four years and won the High Triple Award in 1962. At the age of 70, he held an average of 200.
Frank and Joan enjoyed traveling during their retirement years visiting many places in the United States, Europe, and a memorable trip to Japan. Frank was an active and devout member of St. Agnes Parish, in Sellersville, during his adult life. He volunteered his time at various fundraisers for the church playing Santa Claus at the annual holiday bazaar, as well as helping prepare couples for their weddings.
His family remembers him as a loving husband and father and an expert hugger who always had a twinkle in his blue eyes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
All are welcome Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 9:45-10:45 AM followed by his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St Joseph Catholic Church, 322 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA. Private interment will be held at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
