Frances Patricia McGuire

Frances Patricia McCann McGuire Frances Patricia McGuire,102, of Green Tree died January 23, 2022 peacefully at home. She was born in Ebensburg on November 17, 1919, to Judge John H. McCann and Blanche G. Snyder, the fifth of six children and youngest daughter. When her mother died, Frances spent her early childhood with her beloved great aunt, Sarah McCann Haverty, and uncles Michael McCann and Jim Campbell. They showered her with love and gave her an Irish accent that lasted a lifetime.

Frances was a lifelong Catholic, a woman of strong Faith and deep convictions. Kind and compassionate, she endeared herself to all who knew her.
She loved birds and was a songbird herself, graduating from College Misericordia in 1942 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music. She met Leo Paul (Sandy) McGuire while singing at a wedding. They married on May 14, 1949, raised four children, lived in five states and celebrated 53 years of marriage. She devoted her life to making a happy home for her family.

In 2002 she lost her beloved Sandy and kept on going, joining her daughter in Green Tree in 2006. She bowled until she was 96, surfed the Net on her iPad, played pinochle, read and enjoyed the company of family and friends. She was quick witted, a captivating storyteller who well remembered days gone by, had an artist's eye, and always had a song in her heart and on her lips.

Frances is survived by her children and their spouses: Blanche McGuire of Green Tree, Maureen (Ray) Ford of Missoula, MT, Charles (Karen) McGuire of Florence, MT, Paul (Suzanne) McGuire of Lewisburg, PA, eight grandchildren (Sean, Chris, and Scott McGuire, Megan & Will Ford, Michael, Luke and Kevin McGuire) and six great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, a first cousin and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by the family she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings (Sr. Mary Jean McCann R.S.M., Sister Mary John Blanche McCann O.P., John H. McCann Jr., Margaret McCann Yokemick and Patrick McCann) and a daughter-in-law (Marthalyn McGuire).

No public viewing will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, January 28th at St Margaret's Church (St. Raphael the Archangel Parish) in Green Tree (St Raphael the Archangel parish.) WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, Scott Twp, entrusted with arrangements for the McGuire family. .

In lieu of flowers donations contributions can be made to the Dominican Nuns Monastery, 11 Race Hill Road, N. Gilford, CT. 06437-1099 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
