Emma Ruth ("Tootie") Blair
Comforted by the love and support of her son and daughter and suffused with the grace that comes from living a long and abundantly good and useful life, Emma Ruth ("Tootie") Blair passed away on July 2 as the result of complications from a fall experienced a week earlier. She joins in death after far too long a separation her beloved husband Clarence W. ("Bud") Blair, as well as her daughter Holly, beloved sister Nell ("Honey") and brother-in-law James ("Harper") Jordan.
She is survived by her son Scott (Karen), daughter Susanne (Ron), son-in-law Skip Spellman (Kim); former daughter-in-law Kay Blair; grandchildren Megan (Dean), Shani (Chad), Samantha (Todd), Nathan (Jody), Devin and Brionie; and great grandchildren Brendan, Julia, Blair and Holly. Jackson (Connie) and Terry (Tierney) Jordan, sons of her sister Honey, were a special part of her life, as was Leslie (Dickson) (Fred), daughter of her cousin Nellie (Johnston) (Phil), along with her many other nephews, nieces and their families.
A resolutely self-reliant and graciously sociable resident for the past 10 years of the Brookdale senior living community in Mount Lebanon, Emma leaves behind numerous friends and acquaintances at Brookdale whose affection and support is much appreciated by her family.
Born the daughter of Jackson and Ada Lammie in 1921 and longtime resident of Star Junction, Pa., Emma graduated from Perry Township High School in Perryopolis in 1939 and then attended business school. She was a bookkeeper with Colonial Life Insurance Company in Uniontown, Pa., when she married Bud in 1946 following his service in the U.S. Navy in South Pacific. Following her husband's death in 1974, she took a position in the business office of the Frazier School District in Perryopolis, where she worked until her retirement in 1988. An uncommonly caring, capable and supportive member of the Blair, Dunham and Lammie families, Emma was happiest in the company of family, friends and her beloved pet dogs and cats. Her life has been an inspiration to her children and their families, and her passing leaves a void impossible to fill.
