Ellen Esther (Sherk) Pertler

Age 95, of Pittsburgh, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018. She was born in St. Mary's, PA, daughter of the late Harold and Theresa Sherk and was raised in Erie, PA. Ellen is survived by her sister June Sherk of Erie. She graduated from Penn State and taught physical education at South Hills High School. Ellen's hobbies included swimming, dancing, and playing bridge. She was the beloved mother of John (Judi) Kleffman of Kingston, Ontario, Pat (Robert) Lacker of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sally (Chuck) Schucht of Pittsburgh, and the late William (surviving spouse Hilda) Kleffman. Grandmother of Andrea, Jeanette, Dale, Leigh, Kevin, Kim, Allison, Stephen, and Bradley. Great grandmother of Evelyn, Dylan, Tate, Alex, Zoe, Caroline, and Lila. Aunt of Jacquelin Buchanan and Betsy Haines, cousin of Lyn Meyer of Ontario. She was preceded in death by loving husband Russell Pertler, sister Audrey, and niece Bobbie Irwin. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Erie, PA.
