Died Saturday, November 10, 2018. She had a peaceful departure after 95 years of life. She wanted to be a centenarian. Alas, she didn't quite make it, but she accomplished a great deal in her life. Elda graduated from Scott Township High School in 1943, and immediately went on to become a radio singer for WKDKA and a bookkeeper for the Watson Home. She married Charles W. Perz, her first and only love, February 14, 1953. In 1967, she graduated from Pitt with a master's degree in Hospital and Nursing Home Administration. She managed several facilities in her tenure as administrator, including top ten nursing homes in Margaret Wagner House and Eliza Jennings Home. In 1983, she lost her loving husband, and shortly thereafter, she left her job as hospital administrator in pursuit of a real estate license. Over the course of her years, she flipped a number of properties, before "flipping" was popular. She always wanted to be "the best" at whatever she did, and that she was. Her fighting spirit was with her until the end. She will be sorely missed by the remaining family: LJ Contillo, (wife, Cindy and son, Sean) of Asheville, NC; Lisa Simonitis (husband, Simon and son, Russell) of Orlando, FL. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2019 in the library at Geneva College. Time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Pius X Church, 3040 Pioneer Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15226. Mass held in her honor the morning of February 14, 2019. Arrangements and further information available at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICES, 1650 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, 412-563-2800.
