Effie E. Smith

Age 78, of Mt. Washington, on Friday, September 25, 2015. Beloved mother of Michael Smith, Philip Smith, Sonja (Jameel) Bey and the late Mark C. Smith; and special daughter, Victoria Smith; loving grandmother of Kristen Corona, Michael Smith, Jr., Shayla Smith, Kyra Smith, Sierra Smith, Josiah Bey and Kamia Bey; sister of Emma Montgomery and Harold Christian; also many nieces and nephews. Effie was an Air Force veteran where she was an air traffice controller in Germany and Fort Dix, NJ. She received her Master's Degree in Psychology from Duquesne University cum laude. Effie worked as a licensed psychologist for Western Center in Canonsburg, PA. She was also in charge of ethics and procedures under the direction of the State of PA. Effie was the first ordained woman in the PA Baptist Ministry. She began her Christianity in the Air Force under the Billy Graham Ministry at the age of 19 and brought back her faith to her family and carried it throughout her life. Her family will continue her legacy of faith and ministry.
