Earl W. McCorkle

On Tues., May 27, 2014, age 98, of Green Tree. He was married to his grade school sweetheart of 64 years, the late Vera McCorkle; beloved father of Kate McCorkle and Ron McCorkle; brother of the late Joseph and Russell McCorkle; grandfather of Gillian Shippey and Devon McCorkle; great-grandfather of Colton, Annabel and Ella Shippey; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a Master Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne and served in the African and Italian campaign. Longtime member of Local 95 Operating Engineers Union. He was also a member of Mt. Pisgah Church and was the project manager for the construction of many local hospitals. He was "Mr. Fix It" in the neighborhood...always willing to help others.
