Dorothy L. Elmer

Dorothy L. Elmer, passed away peacefully on March 10th, 2023. 

Raised in Pittsburgh, the loving daughter of the late Patrick and Alice Devine. Sister of the late Raymond Cauley, James Cauley, Regis Cauley, and Patrick Devine. The beloved wife to the late Lawrence Bartley Jr..

Loving wife to James M. Elmer, Sr. Loving mother to Ryan L. Bartley and Rebecca L. Fonner (Chase); stepchildren James Elmer Jr. (Maureen), David Elmer (Michael), and Megan Patel (Nathan). Special grandmother of 3 grandchildren, Conner, Trevor and Luke Bartley; step grandchildren Asher and Chloe Elmer. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy’s love for her family and friends was evident in everything she did. Her grandchildren brought her so much joy. Her warm smile, kind heart, and contagious laugh would light up the room. Graduate of Sacred Heart, she developed a friendship with 3 strong women that lasted through her entire life, never skipping a beat. Proms, marriage, children, vacations and holding each other's hands tightly when in need. She enjoyed socializing with family, friends and neighbors old and new, dinner parties at The Pittsburgh Shriner's and participating in the yearly Race for the Cure with her daughter. Her unending work ethic led to her 28 year career at Gateway Medical Group - UPMC. She was always known and remembered as the friendly face treating each patient with respect. She was one of a kind and her compassion and care was never overlooked. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
