Of Mt. Washington, died on November 30, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 1, 1945 and is survived by his wife, Carol Sloan Carpenter. He was the only child of Hazel and Paul Carpenter, now deceased, of Pittsburgh. Known to many for his intellectual curiosity, he attended Baldwin High School. During high school he traveled throughout the US participating in debate tournaments. He received his Political Science degree from Penn State University; and his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. His career included working for US Steel, H.J. Heinz Company and Aetna. After retiring, Don joined SCORE Service Corps of Retired Executives mentoring small business owners. He served a term as SCORE District Director and served on the Assignment and Membership Committees. In 2017 he received the SCORE Platinum Leadership Award. He enjoyed traveling in Europe, reading and sailing. Private interment. No visitation. Donations may be made to a favorite charity.
