Age 94, of Scott Township, on June 17, 2015. Beloved husband of 63 years of the late Catherine (Sciechowicz) Iannotta, loving father of Joseph (Linda) Iannotta and Catherine (Carl) DeRiggi; two grandchildren. Son of the late Angelo and Giacinta (Ferri) Iannotta and brother of the late Victor Iannotta. Dominic was a lifetime educator. He grew up in the Lower Hill District and graduated and student taught at Fifth Avenue High School. He graduated from Duquesne University in 1942 with certifications to teach History, Italian and French. He received a Masters in Letters from the University of Pittsburgh in 1948 and a Doctor of Arts from Carnegie Mellon University in 1974. He taught history at Glassport Jr. and Sr. High Schools and Washington Vocational High School. He was Vice-Principal and Principal at Latimer Jr. High School and principal at David B. Oliver High School. He lectured in History at Duquesne University from 1946-1982. Upon retirement from the city schools, he was Assistant Director at Gateway Technical Institute and teacher at the School of Education at Allegheny Community College. In 1961, he was awarded the Valley Forge Freedoms Foundation medal for teaching. In 1972, he was selected by the students of Duquesne University as one of thirteen outstanding faculty. At age 91, when he became a resident of Providence Point Assisted Living, he continued to teach and engage fellow residents in History and Opera with monthly lectures.
