In Loving Memory of Hồ Văn Đề

Hồ Văn Đề passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 91 years old. Đề was born on August 2nd, 1934, in Huế, Vietnam, though his official documents list his birth year as 1935. His life, however, was much more than dates and records. It was a life filled with kindness, quiet strength, and deep love for his family.

Đề was a gentle and caring man whose honesty and kindness touched everyone he met. He shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Nguyễn Thị Kim Huế and together they raised seven children. His family was the center of his life. He found his greatest happiness in being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and loving guide to his family.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Nguyễn Thị Kim Huế; his son Hồ Văn Hào (Vũ Thị Minh Loan) and their children Hồ Vũ Lan-Vy, Hồ Bảo Việt; his son Hồ Tấn Đạt (Irene Mu) and their children Hồ Vũ Nhật Minh Damon, Hồ Vũ Băng Châu Destiny, Geoffrey Lamigo; his daughter Hồ Thị Mỹ Phước (Trần Thịnh) and their son Trần Trọng Thái; his son Hồ Hoàng Harry (Mạc Quỳnh Vân) and their children Hồ Mạc Benjamin, Hồ Thiên-Ân Bethany; his daughter Hồ Thị Minh Nguyệt (Paul Seto) and their children Kimberly Seto, Patricia Seto, David Seto; his son Hồ Quang Ân (Hồ Hạnh Cathy) and their children Hồ Evan, Hồ Bảo Long, Hồ Kim Phụng; his son Hồ Minh Đức (Lê Thị Phương Trinh) and their children Hồ Cindy Bảo Ngọc, Hồ Vivian Bảo Vy; his brother Hồ Văn Tế (Lê Thị Huê) and their children, grand children; his brother Hồ Văn Giảng (Lê Thị Thanh Thanh) and their children, grand children; and his many cherished extended family members.

Đề will always be remembered for his kind heart, the love he shared, and the care he showed to everyone around him. Though he will be greatly missed, his love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Our family is forever grateful for the compassionate care provided by WeCare at South Hills and Amedisys Hospice Care, as well as their dedicated staff. We extend our special and heartfelt thanks to Nina and Helen, whose kindness, patience, and genuine care brought comfort not only to our father, but to our entire family. Through their compassion and love, they became a meaningful part of our journey and will always be remembered with deep appreciation.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Military Honor Guard, led by a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and President of the Vietnam Veterans Inc. Honor Guard, and his dedicated team, for honoring the memory of our father, Major (Thiếu Tá) Hồ Văn Đề. Their tribute respectfully acknowledged his distinguished leadership and service in the Army of the South Republic of Vietnam, as well as his steadfast support of American forces during the Vietnam War, throughout the visitation and burial program.
