DAVID T. THIRY
David, sweet, smiling, and often with a little one in his arms and dog at his side, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 22, 2025, with the love of his life, Tara (Koger) Thiry, by his side and surrounded by his wonderful family. He was 61 and lived in Dormont. For over 20 years, David and Tara walked this world together, dancing in the kitchen, sharing stories, laughs, coffee, and a deep care and appreciation for each other. Their beloved children, Nathan and Alexandra, Ian and Andrew, Kevin and Sara, Ben, and Emma, all miss their Dad dearly, and their grandchildren, Kaiden and Evelyn, miss their sweet Pap. One of 10 children born to the late Edward and Colleen (Monaghan) Thiry, David loved the steady flow of siblings that filled his house with joy and laughter: Ruth Ann Richards (the late Al), Tim Thiry (Natalie), Becky Cillo (the late Frank), Ed Thiry, Colleen Demko (John), Jennifer Tucker (Ken), Kathy Thiry, Eileen Thiry, and Michael Thiry. David is also survived by many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A Registered Nurse for about 17 years, David enjoyed being a nurse and caring for his patients, chatting with them, and hearing their stories. He loved to spend time and take alley walks with his grandchildren, dance with his wife, walk his dogs, visit breweries, camp, canoe, fish, and find treasures at yard sales, antique shops, and thrift stores to share with family and friends.
David’s family would like to thank the ALS Association of Pittsburgh, his nurses and doctors for their support and care over the years, members of “Team Dave T” who walked with him to raise funds for ALS, and the “boys in the attic” who were always there to offer an extra hand, a smile, and help spoil the dogs and cat.
All are welcome Saturday, April 26, 2025, 2-8 PM, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 412-563-2800. Interment will be held privately.
