David Andrew DeFrances, a long-time resident of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Denver, CO and Pittsburgh, PA, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 30th, 2019, he was 58 years old.
Born in 1960, in Allegheny County, PA he was the son of the late John A. and Viola B. DeFrances.
DeFrances was a 1979 graduate of Chartiers Valley High School where he played football, baseball and basketball. A 1983 graduate of West Virginia University with a BSEM in Mining Engineering. As well as a masters degree in Industrial Hygene from Emory University.
In 2003, Melanie Steadman Riley gave birth to his loving daughter, Ava Marie. For many years, in addition to spending time with his daughter, he enjoyed playing tennis competitively, listening to R&B and Jazz music, indulging in Mexican food with his Atlanta "Rat Pack" and keeping up with his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his daughter Ava; his eldest brother John (Kathleen) DeFrances of Orchard Lake, MI, older brother Jim (Kathy) DeFrances of Downingtown, PA, and his adoring nieces and nephews, James, Lindsey (Tyler Gunther), Kevin, Devon and Derek.
Visitation is 5-8 pm Friday Feb 8th and Mass is at 10am Saturday Feb 9th at St Simon and Jude Church 1607 Greentree Road Pgh Pa and gravesite ceremony follows mass at Mt Olivet Cemetery on Swallowhill Road. A luncheon in Dave's honor will be held at Gaetano's located on Banksville Road.
