David Lloyd Cutter (SMSGT U.S. Air Force Ret.)

d. February 16, 2022

David Lloyd Cutter (SMSGT U.S. Air Force ret.)
Age 78, of Aliquippa, formerly of Pittsburgh, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Beloved husband of Ellen (Tomasita) Cutter; son of the late Harry S. and Betty (Briar) Cutter; father of Teresa (Matthew) Young, David Paul (Jennifer Wilcox) Cutter, Matthew (Jessica) Cutter; brother Susan Martin, Julie McAfee, Larry Cutter, late John Mark McAfee; grandfather of Mattie, Grace, Abigail Young, Christian and Emilee Cutter, Callen and Annalise Cutter.

David was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. As a boy he spent time with family in Elwood City on a farm putting his natural ability to work with anything mechanical or electrical. After he graduated from South Hills Vocational High School, he joined the Air Force Reserves in 1961. Shortly after his active duty, he married Ellen on August 27, 1964 and they went on to have three children - Teresa, David and Matthew.

During his career at the 911th Airlift Wing section 758 (which was based out of the Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station), he was a successful civil engineer as well as a flight instructor. He traveled the world flying the enormous C-130 Hercules aircraft but was also qualified to fly 5 different aircraft. He spent time in Vietnam and was involved in numerous military operations such as the raid in Tripoli, Libya and Desert Storm, ending his 32 year career as a senior master sergeant.

David was well versed in a lot of areas. He was an awesome mechanic, could wire a house or build practically any structure. He enjoyed helping people and protecting them. It seems that becoming a firefighter was a natural progression of who he was. He was involved with the Mount Oliver Hook and Ladder Fire Department in Allegheny County and the Hopewell and Independence Fire Departments in Beaver County where he eventually rose to the ranks of fire chief.

David knew what he liked. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to camp and Hilltop Baptist Church and having a beer or glass of Spatlese wine. He loved his family very much and cherished the time they spent together. Friends welcome 4-8pm, TUESDAY, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800) 1650 Greentree Rd, Scott Twp 15220.
