Dale William Lutton of Pittsburgh, PA died at St. Clair Hospital on Sunday, October 24, 2021, following a brief illness. Born on March 23, 1935, in Chester, West Virginia. He was the youngest son of Lester and Halcyon Lutton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Alena Kisczak Lutton whom he married on November 5, 1959. His elder brother, Clayton, also preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Mitch D. Lutton and his wife Tara, of Pittsburgh, PA., and Greg S. Lutton of Powder Springs GA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dr. Evan Lutton of New York, NY, Kenna Lutton of Pittsburgh, Ashlyn Lutton of Pittsburgh, and Alex Lutton of Birmingham, AL. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Dorothy May and Jerry May of Lucas, TX. There are also numerous nieces and nephews. Dale graduated from Chester High School, class of 1953 and went on to get his undergraduate degree from West Liberty University, West Virginia, and his graduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chester and Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh. Dale was an educator and musician. After graduating from West Liberty University, he accepted a position in Weirton, West Virginia as the Weirton High School Band Director. During his tenure at WHS the band garnered many awards. The band was invited to perform at the Rose Bowl and at the International Band Festival in Amsterdam, Holland. In 1968, Dale accepted a position in the Crafton school system. He became the Principal at Crafton High School then moved to Principal of Carlynton High School when the districts merged. Retiring in 1994, he continued his music passion. He was a member of The Collaborative Five. They played numerous festivals, senior centers, nursing homes, etc. He and his wife were very active in Top Hatters, their dance group. They also enjoyed seeing much of the country and Alaska, taking cruises and month-long expeditions with their travel group. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 28,2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at William Slater II Funeral Service (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp., 15220, where a funeral service will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown, PA.
