Clare M (Reis) Pachavis

On Friday, April 12, 2024 following a brief illness, Clare died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family after 104 years of a full life. Being a lifelong Pittsburgher and true Pirates fan (except when Richie Hebner hit her with a foul ball), it was fitting she died on 412 day. She was born on December 23, 1919, to John and Louise Reis. While not quite a Christmas baby, she was a gift to anyone that was lucky enough to meet and interact with her. Clare was the fifth of seven children having five sisters and one brother who all preceded her in death. Clare married Henry Pachavis on July 29, 1950, and they remained happily married for 47 years until his death in 1997. Clare had three children; Karen, who passed away in 2022, Robert (Barbara), and Nancy (Bob Strause) who both survive her. Clare also had seven grandchildren: Brett (Stella) Gearing, Alyssa Werner, Jessica (Craig) Leonard, David Gearing, Tanner, Logan, and Spencer Pachavis. Clare is also survived by many nieces and nephews, several of whom graciously assisted and supported her in her later years. Family and friends welcome Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm FREYVOGEL- SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS (412-835-1860) 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park 15241 (Opposite Macy’s South Hills Village). Funeral Mass Saturday 10:00 am in Resurrection Parish, St. Thomas More Church. Burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
