Age 86, of Concordia of the South Hills, formerly of Squirrel Hill and Mount Washington, slept peacefully in God's arms on Monday, September 26, 2016.
Beloved wife of the late Bernard "Jason" Jatkowski; loving mother of Antoinette Brabender (Richard) and the late Michelle Willem (Martin); proud grandmother of Marcie Willem Gagnon (Kevin), Andrew Brabender (Erin Zimmerman) and Elizabeth Kundu (Sujoy); adoring great-grandmother of Hunter, Michelle, Jason, Rhys and Kaya; also survived by her brother, Joseph A. Mroz (Karen) of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Prior to their illnesses, she and Jason loved to travel. She was an avid reader who loved her family, the Blessed Mother, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was a retired teacher of St. Paul's Cathedral and the Schenley Teacher Center. She was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching and was honored at the White House, October 21, 1986. Through her endless curiosity and generosity of spirit, she helped many young students to fulfill their potential. With her boundless love and never ending support, she taught her family to reach for the stars, yet still hold close to each other. Her family was her greatest joy and she will be missed. We would like to thank the medical and non-medical staff of Concordia of the South Hills for their many kindnesses and wonderful care.
