Carole R. Kerr, age 91, died peacefully on March 29, 2024.
Carole was born September 18, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Charles (Bing) and Marian Reed. She married John (Jack) Kerr, and they celebrated 72 wonderful years together. They had three children: Nancy (Otis) Osmianski, Patty (Neill) Brady, and Jeff (Lisa) Kerr. Carole graduated from Perry High School in 1949 and soon after started her 39-year career at Bell of PA. Carole was a woman of strong faith and an active member of Unity Presbyterian Church (formerly Wallace Memorial Church) since 1955, where she served as a deacon and an elder and formed many lifelong friendships. She also volunteered at St. Clair Hospital for several years. Carole had many fond memories growing up in the North Side. She continued her love of the North Side and her German heritage, and she, Jack, and her family enjoyed spending time at the Teutonia Mannerchor. Carole was a classy lady who loved ballroom dancing with her husband and matching her shoes to her purse. In her younger days, she enjoyed caring for and riding her horses. She also enjoyed sunshine on her back porch with a G & T. Most admirably, Carole, with Jack, created a large and close-knit family with cherished traditions. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and teaching them to make strawberry jam. Her Honey-girls and Honey-boys will miss her presence, kindness, and unwavering support. In addition to her husband and children, she is also survived by her brother, Bill (Marianne) Reed; five grandchildren, Adam (Joy), Sarah (Denny), Claire (Sean), Anne (Dylan), and Jayme (Tyler); and six great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brady, Braden, Braxton, Beckett, and Briggs; and beloved in-laws, cousins and nieces. There is no public viewing. On April 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., a memorial service in her honor will be celebrated at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, 15220. Family and friends will be received at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her favorite charity, Light of Life Rescue Mission of Pittsburgh. Arrangements are entrusted to WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, Scott Twp., (412-563-2800) www.slaterfuneral.com
